A couple of new posts then quite a few old ones. I have kept the old ones out of sheer laziness. Content is still correct however dates will not be, So just remember that Thanksgiving is on 11/28 this year and all the other dates will fall into place.</span>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8849502408474359528.post-44586285079385497712019-10-13T20:11:00.000-07:002019-10-13T20:11:25.386-07:00It's beginning to look a lot like Thanksgiving!<span style="font-size: large;">It's beginning to look a lot like Thanksgiving! This is my all time favorite Thanksgiving graphic but remember Thanksgiving feast foods are not very healthy for your best pup friend. The food is too rich and can cause pancreatitis. Which is painful and can be deadly. So love your pets but feed sparingly from the table, if at all.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8849502408474359528.post-29575854478257921822014-11-21T20:58:00.000-08:002014-11-21T20:58:12.918-08:00Wow, Ready, Set, Here We GoAre we ready? Well we have turkeys and fixin's and volunteers. We have one sad lonely can of cranberries on the shelf. I should have taken a picture of it, it's so lonely the gravy is trying to keep it company. More shopping to be done. Have I mentioned that I HATE shoppping. But in the interest of full disclosure I may treat myself to sushi after a grueling shopping trip In Reno.<br />
<br />
Enough of that. Here are the current plans. If you want to set up, prep cook, or drop off or pick up ingredients come to the Event Center 8318 N. Lake Blvd. Between the hours of 9-3 Monday Tuesday and Wednesday. You will find us (oh I so hope it's us and not just me) slaving away in the kitchen. My phone gets absolutely NO reception at the event center so just show up or call 530-546-7249.<br />
<br />
Wednesday is the set up and decorate day, kids welcome to help. If you plan on dropping by on Wednesday you might want to bring a snack to keep the troops happy.<br />

<br /></div>
I am thankful for so many things, how about you? Biggest thing; Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior and my best friend, without Him I am nothing. Big things like my family and friends. Fluffy things: my foster dogs, although Bizibela is not the least bit fluffy but she is adorable.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
They are patiently waiting to see Santa Paws last year.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Or maybe they were waiting for their turkey leg.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Just like this guy.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So what are you thankful for?</div>

Exceeding expectations on all levels. I will post to that in a few days. However here is hoping that people are still reading this post Thanksgiving. I need everyone's help. Someone has stolen Hoover the wonder dog. He disappeared from home base Friday morning Dec 14 2012, here in Tahoe Vista. I say stolen, because he is a home body and a mama's boy to boot. He has lived in this house for 10 years and knows his way around quite well, since his Uncle Jim has hiked him and biked him and skied him and snowshoed him whilst I walked him, drove him and swam him. He knows where he lives and how to get here from many points around the basin ( and Truckee too). So I am fairly convinced that some well meaning (I hope) stranger loaded him up in their car, (which wouldn't have been easy since although friendly he is very reserved with people he does not know well and will not get into cars without hmmm very strong coercion (read force). He is very allergic to many foods and has special diet needs. I need him home. Please post to all the social sites so whoever has him will realize that he has a great home with people who love him and care deeply for him and want him back..<br />

How can you not give thanks when you live in one of the most beautiful places in the world. So here is the first public gratitude for this year's Tahoe Community Thanksgiving Celebration.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial;"> </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
This is just a reminder of how wonderful the inaugural celebration was and how much I appreciated all of your help. Are you ready for the Tahoe Community Thanksgiving Celebration 2012? It is almost upon us. We have 90 days from today. Yikes!. I'm not ready yet are you? Start thinking about your role in the upcoming Second Annual Tahoe Community Thanksgiving Celebration. Call me, email me let me know what you want to do this year!.<br />
<br />
Thank You Redux!</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Arial Narrow"; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;"> This is just a little note to say thank you to all the wonderful people who donated to and were involved in the Inaugural Tahoe Thanksgiving Celebration. It was a big success and was well attended for a first time event. It was so well received that there are plans in the works for the Second Annual Tahoe Thanksgiving Celebration to be held on </span><st1:date day="22" month="11" year="2012"><span style="font-family: "Arial Narrow"; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;">Thursday November 22, 2012</span></st1:date><span style="font-family: "Arial Narrow"; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;">. Stay tuned for more information.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Arial Narrow"; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;"> My personal vision for this project was several fold. The celebration was to be a place for people from all walks of life. Where everyone could have a food filled, fun, comfortable, place to celebrate Thanksgiving, not just a feeding station or a soup kitchen, but rather a community gathering where people could linger and socialize with old friends and make some new ones as well.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Arial Narrow"; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;"> Volunteers were a large part of that vision especially ones who were interested in making Thanksgiving something special for themselves, their families and even complete strangers. We had volunteers come to set up and decorate on Wednesday and even more to take home food and cook for the event. Many came and served while others helped clean up and tear down. We could not have done it without the incredibly faithful, tireless and hardworking dishwashers who spent the entire time in the kitchen. There over 100 volunteers including kids and teens involved in the project. Part of the vision was to make sure that those who attended became engaged and involved, not just sitting around but becoming part of the action and activities.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Arial Narrow"; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;"> Great food, plenty of it and enough to send home for others was another factor in the planning of this event. Project MANA, several local restaurants and many other volunteers made this aspect happen. Besides feeding the over 250 people who attended we handed out 100 quarts of fresh turkey soup and over 150 “to go” containers of meals complete with dessert. Some of these meals stayed within the families who took them and many more were delivered to people who were unable to attend the event, effectively “paying it forward” and sharing the joy. This was an important factor to me and those involved in putting on the celebration. We wanted the event to reach out much further into the community than just the group who attended. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Arial Narrow"; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;"> We had a kids corner, a DJ, a dance instructor and a big screen t.v. to round out the festivities all of these were volunteer operated, there was no time for anyone to get bored. Most people were seen grinning from ear to ear, even the exhausted volunteers many commented that it was the best Thanksgiving ever. That is exactly what we were hoping to see and hear. Based upon all of these factors the Inaugural Tahoe Thanksgiving Celebration was an unconditional success. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Arial Narrow"; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;"> Under the auspices of United for Action and a new group we are calling Tahoe Neighborhood Table we are working on 3 more community meals one each for February, March and April. We are also checking into the concept of monthly or weekly hot lunches at a convenient location. If you have any input on that concept please feel free to contact me, we need all the help we can get.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Arial Narrow"; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;"> Thank you all again for your involvement and we hope you will join us again in 2012. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
